Abstract Appendicularians are recognized as one of the most abundant mesozooplankton groups in numerous pelagic environments and they play a crucial role marine ecosystems bridge gap between primary producers higher trophic levels food webs. Zooplankton samples were collected during three spring oceanographic surveys conducted 2014, 2015, 2016, coastal zone (Staten Island) oceanic (Namuncurá-Banco Burdwood Marine Protected Area). Our study focuses on comparative analysis species composition, density, biomass, maturity stages appendicularia these regions, which marked by distinct physical biological attributes. Two appendicularians found area, Oikopleura fusiformis Fritillaria borealis, former being dominant. Their distribution was different because F. borealis mainly concentrated while O. consistently recorded both zones. Chlorophyll-a concentrations to be than zone. These accompanied densities that area. The surface current velocity seems reflect total phytoplankton biomass On other hand, temperature for protected area lower could related larger sizes Baseline data areas surrounding is essential contribute stakeholders advise future changes translate into regional global processes.
