This study focuses on enhancing surface protection through microwave-assisted metallic cladding of a Ni-ZrO2 mixture onto SS-304 substrates. Meticulous preparation steps ensured effective deposition: underwent thorough cleaning, while the was preheated to remove moisture. Maintaining uniform distribution crucial for consistent coating thickness. Microwaves interacted differently with materials, necessitating consideration material-specific skin depth avoid direct particle-microwave interaction. Microwave hybrid heating (MHH) charcoal as susceptor overcame microwave reflection, facilitating rapid powder mixture. A pure graphite sheet prevented contamination during MHH. Subsequent irradiation in multimode applicator 120 seconds and controlled heating, illustrated Figure 1. SEM analysis revealed morphology Ni ZrO2 particles surface, indicating deposition adherence. significant improvement hardness (40.78%) post-cladding observed. Furthermore, wear rate coefficient friction cladded were determined be 0.00124 mm3/m 0.243, respectively. These findings highlight promising tribological performance underscoring its potential applications requiring enhanced improved mechanical properties.

Air foil bearings (AFB) working on hydrodynamic lubrication are exposed to more wear during start-stop condition of motion. To reduce the and improve damping properties top foil, influence combined effect silicon-graphite coating bottom side with plain, texture polyimide (PI) coated surface stainless steel (SS304) was analysed for low speeds. The SS304 is taken as a material which mixture applied at all specimens. other sliding contact, three different surfaces such textured PI used in this study. Wear behaviour using pin-on-disc test per ASTM standard results compared. average loss 50% lesser specimen than plain specimen. acted damper provide better hardness. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, optical microscopy scanning electron (SEM) study were carried out understand crystalline phase, functional groups, track, region respectively. It observed from FTIR that C = O N-H bonds around 1729 3137 cm −1 wavelength. XRD reveals shows austenite, martensite hexagonal structures. SEM images show well adhered structure SS304. combination gives resistance resistance.

Corrosion processes can have a substantial impact on structural materials' integrity and are commonly related with aircraft aging. in airplane structures develop due to the variety of materials utilized, conditions, stresses hitting planes. As many airplanes expected remain operation for decades, preventing mitigating corrosion-related hazards is critical. issues result costly repairs downtime aircraft, there worries about safety historical coatings chemicals used combat corrosion. This chapter describes recent strategy overcoming corrosion effect aircraft.
