The advanced high-strength steels (AHSSs) with high Si and Mn contents are extensively applied in the automobile manufacturing industry. To improve corrosion resistance, Zn coatings generally to steel substrate. However, heat input tensile stress occur during resistance spot welding (RSW) process; thus, Zn-induced liquid metal embrittlement (LME) can be produced due existence of Zn. Unfortunately, LME occurrence trigger premature failure welded joints, seriously affecting service life vehicle components. In this study, behaviors RSW joints electrogalvanized (EG) galvannealed (GA) were comparatively investigated. Based on Auto/Steel Partnership (A/SP) criterion, 16 groups different currents designed. particular, four typical selected reveal characteristics behaviors. Moreover, these EG GA were, respectively, etched measure their nugget sizes. results indicated that increase current, more severe cracks tended form. As determined comprehensive evaluation higher susceptibility occurred steels. It was concluded formation Fe-Zn intermetallic compounds (IMCs) internal oxide layers annealing process could account for lower joints.

The effect of various atmospheric parameters on the corrosion mechanism press-hardened steel (PHS) coated with Al-Si (AS) was studied. Quantitative models composition soluble and stable products were developed. A high chloride concentration led to a localized due presence cracks in coating. Increased resistance silicon-rich Al8Fe2Si AlFe at expense Al5Fe2 phase low silicon content shown. Under low-chloride-deposition conditions, coating exhibited good provided sufficient protection underlying steel. formation more local anodes cathodes under conditions lower relative humidity reduction depth pits substrate.
