Antifouling (AF) nanocoatings made of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) are more cost-efficient and eco-friendly substitutes for the already outlawed tributyltin-based coatings. Here, a catalytic hydrosilation approach was used to construct design inspired by composite mosquito eyes from non-toxic PDMS nanocomposites filled with graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets decorated magnetite nanospheres (GO-Fe3O4 nanospheres). Various GO-Fe3O4 hybrid nanofillers were dispersed into resin through solution casting method evaluate structure-property relationship. A simple coprecipitation procedure fabricate an average diameter 30-50 nm, single crystal structure, predominant (311) lattice plane. The uniform bioinspired superhydrophobic PDMS/GO-Fe3O4 nanocomposite surface produced had micro-/nano-roughness, low surface-free energy (SFE), high fouling release (FR) efficiency. It exhibited several advantages including simplicity, ease large-area fabrication, simultaneous offering dual micro-/nano-scale structures simply via one-step process wide variety materials. superhydrophobicity, SFE, rough topology have been studied as properties unfilled silicone nanocomposites. coatings' physical, mechanical, anticorrosive features also taken account. Several microorganisms employed examine resistance coated specimens 1 month. Good dispersion fillers in coating until wt % achieved highest water contact angle (158° ± 2°), lowest SFE (12.06 mN/m), improved bulk mechanical anticorrosion properties. well-distributed (1 nanofillers) nanocoating showed least biodegradability against all tested [Kocuria rhizophila (2.047%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (1.961%), Candida albicans (1.924%)]. We successfully developed non-toxic, low-cost, economical nanostructured FR coatings long-term ship hull This study may expand applications bio-inspired functional materials because multiple AF, durability hydrophobicity both important industrial applications.

Abstract 2D nanomaterials, with extraordinary physical and chemical characteristics, have long been regarded as promising nanofillers in organic coatings for marine corrosion protection. The past decade has witnessed the high‐speed progress of nanomaterial‐reinforced composite coatings, plenty breakthroughs achieved yet. This review covers an in‐depth all‐around outline up‐to‐date advances nanomaterial‐modified employed protection realm. Starting from a brief introduction to preparation strategies properties are illustrated. Subsequently, diverse models based on also introduced, including barrier, self‐healing, well cathodic protection, respectively. Furthermore, computational simulations critical factors clarified detail. Finally, remaining challenges prospects nanomaterials reinforced highlighted.

In recent decades, photoluminescence (PL) material with excellent optical properties has been a hot topic. Graphene oxide (GO) is an candidate for PL because of its unique properties, compared to pure graphene. The existence internal band gap in GO can enrich significantly. Therefore, widely applied many fields such as science, biomedicine, anti-counterfeiting, and so on. Over the past decade, quantum dots (GOQDs) have attracted attention researchers luminescence materials, but their mechanism still ambiguous, although some theoretical results achieved. addition, GOQDs fluorescence quenching which be used medical imaging biosensors. this review, we outline work on phenomena process GOQDs. First, mechanisms are discussed depth. Second, regulation introduced. Following that, applications GO–including electronic devices, imaging–are addressed. Finally, future development proposed, challenges exploring summarized.

The detrimental impact of corrosion on metallic materials remains a pressing concern across industries. Recently, intelligent anti-corrosive coatings for safeguarding metal infrastructures have garnered significant interest. These are equipped with micro/nano carriers that store inhibitors and release them when triggered by external stimuli. advanced the capability to elevate electrochemical impedance values steel 2-3 orders magnitude compared blank coating. However, achieving intelligent, durable, reliable requires careful consideration in design these carriers. This review paper primarily focuses investigating inhibition mechanism various nano/micro carriers/barriers identifying challenges associated using desired properties coatings.
