Background/Objectives: Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is the term used to describe a pathology (dysfunction and pain) in masticatory muscles temporomandibular joint (TMJ). There an apparent upward trend publication of dental research need continually improve quality research. Therefore, this study was conducted analyse use sample size effect calculations TMD randomised controlled trial. Methods: The period restricted full 5 years, i.e., papers published 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. filter article type—“Randomized Controlled Trial” used. studies were graded on two-level scale: 0–1. In case 1, (SS) (ES) calculated. Results: entire sample, SS 58% studies, while ES 15% studies. Conclusions: Quality should as increases. One factor that influences level statistics. provide basis for understanding results obtained by authors. Access formulas, online calculators software facilitates these analyses. High-quality trials solid foundation medical progress, fostering development personalized therapies more precise effective treatment increase patients’ chances recovery. Improving research, general, helps public confidence advances raises standard patient care.

This rapid review summarizes the latest primary research in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) injection treatment. The final literature searches were conducted on 4 January 2024. Selection was performed systematically following predefined eligibility criteria. Randomized control trials concerning treatment of TMJ disorders with intra-articular injections included. Studies more invasive interventions excluded. Quality life, pain and range mandibular mobility assessed. Ultimately, 12 studies covering a total 603 patients qualified. They concerned: (1) arthrocentesis (AC) administration of, (2) injectable platelet-rich fibrin (I-PRF), (3) plasma (PRP), (4) hyaluronic acid (HA), (5) non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), (6) hypertonic dextrose (HD) local anesthetic. dominant approach to perform before administering appropriate substance (I-PRF, PRP, HA, or NSAID). Two current NSAIDs, specifically tenoxicam piroxicam, are noteworthy. A mixture PRP HA injected another two trials. These innovative approaches may prove be significant directions for further TMJs.

Platelet concentrates (PCs), which are blood products that abundant in platelets and growth factors, have become pivotal treating maxillofacial tissue lesions due to their capacity for promoting bone soft recovery. This review will provide some recent progress of the use platelet treat on tissues. We reviewed mechanisms by PCs promote wound healing recovery summarized application treatment tissues, including medication-related osteonecrosis jaw, post-extraction healing, implant surgery, temporomandibular joint diseases, periodontal restoration. PC promotes attachment proliferation osteoblasts, as well synthesis deposition collagen fibers stimulating AFK pathway releasing factors cytokines, such secreting GFs, VEGF, TGF-β, etc. They also induce angiogenesis, inhibit resorption, relieve symptoms, reduce postoperative complications maintain stability. may be used an adjuvant therapy However, more studies should refine preparation methods establish a foundation extensive application.

Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) are prevalent musculoskeletal conditions involving pain and dysfunction of jaw mobility function, which have proven difficult to treat satisfactorily. The present study aimed assess the effectiveness a liquid platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) infusion during arthrocentesis versus other options using coadjuvant materials reduce TMD symptoms. A literature search was conducted PubMed, EMBASE, Web Science, Scopus, ClinicalTrials.gov for RCTs published before January 2024, comparing i-PRF any treatment. This systematic review registered on PROSPERO (CRD42023495364). searches generated several recent that compared injection combined with (AC) AC-only or AC plasma (PRP). outcomes analyzed included measures (visual analog scale, VAS), maximum mouth opening, sounds, MRI-verified changes in structure. Across RCTs, addition resulted significant improvements relief, structural PRP over follow-up periods ranging from 6 12 months. Current clinical evidence favors as an adjunct rather than treatment TMDs. subjective objective outcome clinically meaningful. Still, additional high-quality larger sample sizes longer follow-ups required strengthen base better define role management guidelines.

Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of arthrocentesis in managing temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs). However, there is a lack consensus among these regarding selection injectables. Furthermore, an increasing number drugs been tested for TMDs recent years, complicating decision-making process clinicians. This study conducted network meta-analysis randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare clinical efficacy different treatment regimens.
