Abstract More and more attention has been paid to the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). Constructing heterojunctions designing defect structures are important means improve separation efficiency photogenerated carriers catalytic activity. ZnO/BWO-x composite was synthesized through solvothermal method. Compared with ZnO BWO-x, a wider visible light absorption range, higher charge migration rate, lower electron–hole pair recombination rate. When molar ratio BWO-O3 is 1:1, prepared photocatalyst (ZnO/BWO-5) highest activity, under irradiation for 180 min, rate TCH reaches 85.53% significantly than that before compounding. After further exploration, it found effect ZnO/BWO-5 best conditions pH = 9, dosage 40 mg, concentration 20 mg l −1 . The reasons enhanced activity composites summarized as follows: (1) Oxygen vacancies reduce band gap utilization light; (2) conduction potential can complement Bi 2 WO 6 , staggered energy levels form Z scheme heterojunction, which conducive rapid carriers.
