Abstract Phenolic resin is considered a promising precursor for advanced hard carbon anodes in sodium‐ion batteries (NIBs) due to its ease of design, structural stability, and high residual yield. However, the practical application affected by closed‐pore content structure. Here, we achieve fine control over cross‐linking structure phenolic precursors adjusting catalyst system, followed high‐temperature carbonization produce resin‐based microspheres with small sizes (2–4 µm), monodispersity, narrow spherical diameter distribution. Based on this, deeply explore intrinsic relationship between microstructure these their sodium storage performance NIBs. This strategy can provide feasible molecular engineering approach development closed pores tune electrochemical properties such as plateau region capacity.
