The fight against insect pests primarily relies on the utilization of synthetic insecticides. However, improper application these chemicals can lead to detrimental effects both environment and human health, as well foster development resistance. Concerns about the safety of traditional preservatives in personal care products are driving interest toward self-preserving alternatives. This study explores potential B. stenostachya leaf extracts, a natural and biodegradable material, for use cosmetics. stenostachya, fast-growing bamboo species native to Taiwan, is rich bioactive compounds, including flavonoids with antimicrobial properties. Leaves were obtained from Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) Tainan, extracted using ultrasonic Soxhlet methods water, 50% ethanol, 95% ethanol. The highest yield was achieved ethanol at 100 °C. Cytotoxicity evaluated NIH/3T3 mouse fibroblast cell line, no toxicity observed dilutions between 1/3200 1/400, indicating extract’s cosmetic use. Antimicrobial activity tested accordance ISO 11930:2019 standards. extract effectively inhibited Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus pathogens, meeting preservative efficacy Standards A B long-term microbial control. ABSTRACT Citrus peels are rich in bioactive phenolic compounds with various health effects including antioxidant, antiobesity, antiinflammatory, antihypertensive, antihypercholesterolemic, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and anticarcinogenic activities. Both extractable nonextractable phenolics present significant amounts peel diverse bioactivities. While can be recovered from the fruit by conventional extraction methods, remaining residues must released cell matrix first hydrolysis acid, alkali, or enzymes. Novel processing technologies help improvement of efficiency. Extreme process medium conditions degrade their bioactivity where encapsulation applied to improve stability, solubility, bioactivity. powder ascorbic acid dietary fiber besides extracts therefrom used as functional food ingredients extend shelf life provide benefits. In addition, antioxidant antimicrobial agents active packaging applications.
