Impedance metasurfaces enable accurate regulation of acoustic fields. However, they can hardly supply a flexible response as such perfect operation is accompanied by stringent requirements on the design unit cells. Actually, an arbitrary lossless and passive target impedance matrix requires tuning 3 independent real parameters. Transmission enhancement of sound waves across the interface between media with different impedances is a classical problem in acoustic communication, for instance case water-air interface. Different strategies, including bubble-embedded metasurfaces or impedance-matched metamaterials, have been developed to render transparent. Transmedia wave up now either broadband incorporating customized wavefront manipulation. In this paper, we explore use transformation acoustics and gauge realize both goals simultaneously. This paper investigates how an airborne node can eavesdrop on the underwater acoustic communication between submerged nodes. Conventionally, such eavesdropping has been assumed impossible as signals do not cross water-air boundary. Here, we demonstrate that communications be picked up and (under certain conditions) decoded using mmWave radar due to minute vibrations induced by water surface. We implemented evaluated a proof-of-concept prototype of our method tested it in controlled (pool) uncontrolled environments (lake). Our results device identify modulation bitrate transmissions from uncooperative transmitter (victim), even decode transmitted symbols. Unlike conventional over-the-air communications, indicate secrecy links varies depending type provide insights into underlying reasons behind these differences. also highlight theoretical limitations threat model, may have significant impact stealthiness with particular concern submarine warfare, operations (e.g., oil & gas, search rescue, mining), conservation endangered species.
