This experiment aimed to investigate the protective effects of berberine on copper-induced liver and gill toxicities in freshwater grouper (Acrossocheilus fasciatus). Fish (initial weight 1.56 ± 0.10 g) were randomly distributed into 12 tanks (80 L, 20 fish per tank) divided four experimental groups: The control group, exposed 0.02 mg/L Cu2+ (Cu group), fed 100 mg/kg (BBR100 400 (BBR400 group). After a 30-day experiment, results showed that significantly increased activities catalase glutathione peroxidase liver, gills, serum inhibited by exposure (P < 0.05). Berberine inclusion decreased lysozyme acid phosphatase, as well content immunoglobulin M compared Cu group suppressed expression proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β, interleukin-6 signaling transducer, NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 gills induced while downregulating anti-inflammatory cytokine transforming growth factor β1. Additionally, reduced injury markers alanine transaminase aspartate transaminase, levels total cholesterol triglyceride serum, alleviated histopathological damage caused exposure. In summary, enhanced antioxidant capacity, mitigated inflammation, exerted significant under

Abstract Heavy metals including cadmium (Cd) are one of the major persistent and non-biodegradable wastewater pollutants. However, Cd reaches aquatic ecosystem via industrial agricultural waste discharges causes serious deterioration in welfare status animals. The use feed supplements with immune-stimulants to mitigate toxic influences heavy is a much more intriguing point. Thus, current experiment used bio-synthetized chitosan nanoparticles derived from Bacillus subtilis (Bs-CNPs) as supplement evaluated its ameliorative impacts on growth Cd-intoxicated Nile tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus ). Bifactorial design (3 Bs-CNPs levels × 3 levels) was study where fingerlings (58–63 g) were fed 0.0, 2, 4 g Bs-CNPs/kg alongside exposing 0.392, 0.784 mg Cd/L for 60 days represent nine treatments follows: T1: control group (no exposure; no supplement); T2 T3: fish intoxicated 0.392 Cd/L, respectively; T4 T5: 2 feed, T6 T7: along exposure T8 T9: respectively. It noted that exhibited significant retardation performance digestive enzyme activities decline their survival rate compared (T1). results also revealed toxicity alone (T2 T3) experienced abnormal clinical signs behavioral changes. Compared Bs-CNPs), highest values cortisol, glucose, aspartate alanine aminotransferase, acetylcholine esterase activity found diet Cd/L. Higher restudies liver, intestine, gills, kidney, muscles tissues detected exposed sequence order different organs intestine > gills liver kidney muscles. Remarkable pathological alterations hepatic intestinal observed. On other hand, feeding Bs-CNPs-enriched diets enhanced performance, activities, hematological parameters residues organs. Interestingly, (4 g/kg feed) returned growth, enzymes, hematological, biochemical approximate those group. Furthermore, these showed histopathological alteration recovery similar Bs-CNPs). Fish lower than Cd-exposed treatments. Consequently, evoked could enhance protect may occur ecosystem.

Cadmium (Cd) is a non-essential trace element that poses significant toxic effects on fish. This review focuses hematological and plasma biochemical parameters as key indicators of fish health under Cd exposure. Hematological parameters, such red blood cell (RBC) count, hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, hematocrit (Ht), were selected for their critical role in oxygen transport sensitivity to Cd-induced disruptions, which often result anemia impaired delivery tissues. Mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean (MCH), concentration (MCHC) provide further insights into erythropoiesis synthesis, both are essential assessing toxicity. Plasma including calcium, magnesium, glucose, cholesterol, total protein, liver enzymes aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), crucial understanding ionic balance, metabolic regulation, organ function, especially exposed Cd. These biomarkers offer comprehensive view the physiological stress damage caused by synthesizes literature findings these parameters. It also discusses potential mitigation strategies, dietary supplementation with antioxidants elements, counteract harmful

In recent decades, cadmium (Cd) has garnered significant global attention due to its extensive and potentially harmful health effects, even at low exposure levels. Improper management of waste can lead severe environmental pollution, ultimately affecting living organisms through various routes. This study aims compile review the latest data on toxic effects Cd critical body systems functions, with a particular focus early stages development (prepubertal period) across different species. The highlights Cd's impact reproductive, neurobehavioral, cognitive, immune, renal systems, gastrointestinal, endocrine systems. Additionally, it provides valuable insights into how may contribute diseases in later life.
