The design of multi-purpose decontaminants with environmentally friendly characteristics, low cost, and high efficiency in removing pollutants from the environment is an effective economic strategy for maintaining long-term development ecosystem. Based on killing two birds one stone, egg white (EW)/TiO2 hydrogel a porous structure devised as bio-adsorbent using waste eggs nearing their expiration date simultaneously achieving efficient removal organic dyes inactivation microorganisms industrial wastewater. characterizations its morphology composition scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) theory, energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) validate successful synthesis EW/TiO2. maximum adsorption capacity EW/TiO2 333.172 mg∙mL−1 according to Langmuir model. photodegradation methyl blue (MB) solution under irradiation via xenon lamp used assess photocatalytic behavior Among different samples, 5 wt% TiO2-doped shows 99% 120 min irradiation. Finally, antibacterial properties are evaluated by calculating bacterial survival rate against Escherichia coli (E. coli). photocatalyst exhibits 90.4%, indicating that possesses positive activity effectively inhibiting growth bacteria, which suitable wastewater treatment over long period time.
