Abstract Purpose To investigate the correlation between dry eye disease (DED) symptoms and academic performance in young adults aged 21–30 years, as well to determine relationship screen time DED symptoms. Methods A total of 454 adults, 21 30 years age, were initially enrolled study. Data collected included sex, grade point average (GPA), hours contact lens wear, degree compliance with 20–20–20 rule, response Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, for studying engaging social media activities. Spearman analysis was conducted performance, usage. Results 445 participants analysis, 99.3% ( n = 442) exhibiting (OSDI ≥13). The mean (standard deviation) OSDI score 76.91 (17.89). Additionally, only 17.0% adhered recommended rule during Mean daily 9.84 (3.73) h, 2.97 (2.34) h 6.93 (3.48) scores significantly correlated study r s 0.12, p 0.01) usage 0.13, 0.01), but not GPA −0.07, 0.16) or wearing 0.05, 0.43). Conclusions prevalence found be high amongst adults. This revealed a significant association duration this population. Prolonged exposure, both purposes engagement, linked more severe manifestations DED. Notably, no observed

Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial condition affecting the ocular surface. It characterized by loss of tear film homeostasis and accompanied symptoms that may potentially result in damage to surface even vision loss. Unmodifiable risk factors for DED mainly include aging, hormonal changes, lifestyle issues such as reduced sleep duration, increased screen exposure, smoking, ethanol consumption. As its prevalence continues rise, has garnered considerable attention, prompting exploration potential new therapeutic targets. Recent studies have found when production ROS exceeds capacity antioxidant defense system on surface, oxidative stress ensues, leading cellular apoptosis further damage. These events can exacerbate inflammation responses, increasing levels promoting vicious cycle DED. Therefore, given central role reactive oxygen species DED, strategies involving antioxidants emerged novel approach treatment. This review aims enhance our understanding intricate relationship between thereby providing directions explore innovative approaches this complex disorder.

To determine the performance of TOTAL30 for Astigmatism (T30fA; Alcon; Fort Worth, TX, USA) contact lenses (CLs) in existing CL wearers who are also frequent digital device users. This 1-month, 3-visit study recruited adult, 18- to 40-year-old subjects were required use daily devices at least 8 hours per day. All refit into T30fA CLs. A text message visual analog scale (VAS) (±50 scale; positive being comfortable) evaluate at-home eye comfort across day 1 day, week, and month. Subjects evaluated month with Computer Vision Syndrome Questionnaire (CVS-Q), Impact Dry Eye on Everyday Life (IDEEL) Quality questionnaire, a custom questionnaire. total 48 analyzed (mean age = 28.8 ± 6.3 years; 75% female). At month, IDEEL activities, feelings, work domains scores 96.7 6.6, 96.4 6.2, 94.8 8.6, respectively. CVS-Q 3.48 3.73. Most indicated that they satisfied overall CLs (81.3%) their level strain (87.3%). When evaluating VAS, did not differ each time point (all p-value ≥ 0.16), yet decrease minimally wear < 0.001). These data suggest monthly can provide an excellent wearing experience those use.
