Abstract Purpose To investigate the correlation between dry eye disease (DED) symptoms and academic performance in young adults aged 21–30 years, as well to determine relationship screen time DED symptoms. Methods A total of 454 adults, 21 30 years age, were initially enrolled study. Data collected included sex, grade point average (GPA), hours contact lens wear, degree compliance with 20–20–20 rule, response Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, for studying engaging social media activities. Spearman analysis was conducted performance, usage. Results 445 participants analysis, 99.3% ( n = 442) exhibiting (OSDI ≥13). The mean (standard deviation) OSDI score 76.91 (17.89). Additionally, only 17.0% adhered recommended rule during Mean daily 9.84 (3.73) h, 2.97 (2.34) h 6.93 (3.48) scores significantly correlated study r s 0.12, p 0.01) usage 0.13, 0.01), but not GPA −0.07, 0.16) or wearing 0.05, 0.43). Conclusions prevalence found be high amongst adults. This revealed a significant association duration this population. Prolonged exposure, both purposes engagement, linked more severe manifestations DED. Notably, no observed

Background/Objectives: Considering the omnipresence of digital devices in every aspect our lives, and from an increasingly younger age, eye strain (DES) dry disease (DED) have become a global concern. The main objective this paper is to conduct systematic review literature on relationship between screen use ocular surface health, as well potential negative impact impaired visual functioning certain aspects mental health daily performance. Methods: Using PRISMA method, screening study selection process resulted inclusion 15 papers published electronic databases PubMed WoS. Results: findings highlight prolonged concerning prevalence DED or DES symptoms across different populations. A significant was found outcomes, including depression, anxiety, stress. Furthermore, higher frequency severity associated with reduced sleep quality difficulties functioning. Conclusions: Given ongoing exposure increasing all age groups, there need design interventions programs focused preserving improving subjective well-being. multifaceted these physical functioning, requires holistic approach, integrating ergonomic interventions, hygiene, support.

Previous studies have established that both screen luminance and background illuminance influence occupants’ visual experience while using display terminals for office work. Yet, scarce attention has been paid to the pervasive large-size self-luminous displays particular in education scenarios. The current study ( N = 24) employed a within-subject design investigate effects of horizontal (200 lx, 500 lx 800 at table) (50 cd m −2 100 ) on students’ comfort, alertness, subjective appraisals concentration performance. Results revealed viewing brighter (100 induced more profiles performance outcomes than exposure higher (800 lx). 50 better satisfaction under condition. Exposure rendered lowest fatigue but worst . These findings suggested not watch dim bright room gaining non-visual benefits. optimal combination ambient are still worth investigating future integrative lighting educational settings.

To use a portable electromyographic (EMG) system for the objective evaluation of glare-induced discomfort in patients with keratoconus. Fifty-five eyes 31 and 24 controls were enrolled this retrospective case-control study. The electrical activity mimic muscles was recorded at three different luminances (500, 3000, 6000 lux) using EMG system. A glare value obtained as signal/noise ratio each recording. All asked to grade their after exposure luminance subjective de Boer scale. Corneal topography-based wavefront analysis, pupil size, angle kappa calculated identify possible significant correlations. Mean values index (signal/noise ratio) patients' group 1.66 ± 1.5 500 lux, 2.71 1.68 3000 3.16 1.92 lux; control group, 1.4 0.4 1.9 0.86 2.13 0.9 lux. There statistically difference level 0.05 between two groups only 6000-lux illuminance level. Spearman's correlation all recording grading feeling. no correlations responses keratometric values, or kappa. Trefoil coma significantly correlated glare-estimated values. Patients keratoconus experience higher levels when exposed source, measured objectively recordings, which may affect quality vision.
