This paper compares the operating costs of first-generation electric-powered aircraft with those their conventional counterparts. We develop a cost model that incorporates both fixed and variable to evaluate convenience short-haul routes electric aircraft. find have higher than However, reductions in price, maintenance requirements, battery replacement costs, due consolidation this technology, could soon make it convenient deploy 19-seat on regional routes. Conversely, most promising prospects for larger are anticipated medium-term advent second-generation featuring significant technological enhancements. Substitution is expected limited contribution aviation emissions reduction short-term – approximately 0.1% from intra-European flights but increase substantially following upgrades technology medium-to-long term.

The relentless expansion of urban populations and the surge in e-commerce have increased demand for rapid delivery services, leading to an increase truck traffic that contributes congestion, environmental pollution, economic inefficiencies. critical challenge this poses is not only managing spaces efficiently but also aligning with global sustainability goals. This study addresses pressing need innovative solutions reduce reliance on transportation congested areas without compromising efficiency freight systems. a novel approach leverages electrified autonomous aircraft (EAA) cargo shuttles shift bulk air transportable from road air, specifically targeting underutilized airports establishing vertiports remote locations. By applying data mining techniques analyze flow data, research identifies key commodity categories metropolitan statistical (MSAs) where implementation EAA services could significantly mitigate truck-induced congestion. findings reveal select few commodities MSAs can potentially decrease traffic, electronics emerging as dominant category, cities like Los Angeles Chicago prime candidates initial service deployment. Stakeholders planning, logistics, policy will find study’s insights beneficial. work lays foundation future innovations sustainable mobility logistics.
