The growing global concern over heat-related health risks, exacerbated by climate change, disproportionately affects low-income populations, particularly in tropical regions like Indonesia. This study investigates indoor thermal conditions home-based enterprises (HBEs) within the informal urban settlements of Surakarta City, Indonesia, focusing on struggle for comfort under constrained conditions. By addressing challenges housing, this research contributes to sustainable development goals, aiming enhance living climates. Our methodology included detailed field measurements using standard indices these dwellings, complemented surveys and interviews understand building designs, occupant behaviors, adaptation strategies. Findings indicate that temperatures inside dwellings frequently exceeded 30 °C during 50–60% working hours, prompting residents adopt coping strategies such as opening windows, adjusting work schedules, utilizing shading devices. Space limitations necessitated multifunctional use exacerbating heat humidity from activities cooking ironing. Despite reliance natural ventilation, ineffective architectural layouts impeded airflow. highlights urgent need solutions accommodate dual residential commercial functions spaces, improve challenging environments.

Profitability’s impact on firm value in Indonesia’s real estate firms: a panel data investigation DOI

Purpose Profitability is crucial for a company’s sustainability. This study aims to examine the influence of profitability and specific variables on value real estate companies in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach The uses sample 42 listed Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 2023. A static panel regression approach was adopted, with best model being fixed effect model, verified through robustness test. Findings results indicate that most effective explaining firm value. Profitability, proxied by return assets (ROAs), does not significantly impact finding confirmed tests using another measure, equity (ROE). The COVID-19 pandemic that started in early 2020 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine February 2022 caused multidimensional shocks to housing market. Understanding their micro-level impact is crucial optimizing future responses similar shocks, designing sustainable urban socio-economic policies, investing. Based on hedonic Spatial Error Model for local rental market Poland, during pandemic, valuation leisure-related apartment characteristics (the availability a balcony private garden) increased. As tenants spent more time at home or neighbourhood, proximity green areas became increasingly important, relevance university buildings decreased. Then, amidst war, reluctance use gas heating has been noticed. Combined with observed price premium location apartments revitalised tenement houses, this means modernisation historic stock not only ecologically desired, but also capitalised achieved rents. rent change throughout estimated -6.7%, while war-related crisis, +29.7%. Property stocks are an attractive alternative investment for investors who want passive income. Investors’ decisions focus not only on maximizing returns but also reducing risk. This study examines the extent to which macroeconomic factors affect stock performance by comparing effectiveness of Fama–French five-factor model (5FF) and seven-factor (7FF) in estimating returns. verifies Fisher’s theory context property real estate stocks.
