This paper examines the impact of corporate governance mechanisms on Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure in utilities sector. We collected data from Eikon Refinitiv database 265 worldwide organisations operating utility sector during 2011–2019 period. Findings evidence that board independence existence a specific Corporate Responsibility (CSR)/sustainability committee constitute positive drivers utilities’ overall ESG levels. Also, size positively influences environmental social disclosure. The study would encourage to define their internal carefully, devoting primary attention an accurate selection directors members.

In a changed scenario, characterized by great attention to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, few industries feel the pressure more than utilities. The paper investigates, employing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model, whether including ESG factors increases efficiency of utilities companies banks, considering ratings when selecting companies, succeed in optimizing their portfolio. Our findings signal that neither improve nor constitute useful complementary criterion for credit lending managers, provide suggestions regulators academics.

ABSTRACT Maritime transport plays a fundamental role in global trade, serving as the primary means of moving goods across world. Ports are essential hubs within this network, enabling convergence goods, and people. While ports indispensable to economy, they also contribute significantly environmental challenges. In response, increasingly adopting strategies that balance economic objectives with sustainability goals. Among these, disclosure (SD) has emerged vital tool for demonstrating port's commitment responsible management addressing stakeholder expectations. Despite growing focus on port industry, academic research paid limited attention SD practices, leaving area underexplored. This study seeks address gap by examining level European Union identifying factors influencing dissemination information. Grounded legitimacy theory, it explores how characteristics—such size, complexity, public status, online visibility—affect levels disclosed via official websites. The econometric analysis, based sample 197 ports, reveals relatively low information disclosed, aspects dominating over social ones. findings further indicate size complexity positively influence levels, whereas status negative impact.

However, little is known about materiality ESG factors to investors' risk perceptions. This paper contributes this debate by analyzing relationship between performance utility companies cost equity capital. Using fixed-effect panel regressions a sample 273 firm-year observations 2017 2021, provides novel insights with theoretical practical implications.

Abstract Policymakers, academics, and practitioners are increasingly discussing non-financial reporting (NFR) initiatives, i.e., initiatives that related to environmental social matters. The implementation of NFR in the context small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is a key topic. Based on systematic literature review, this article first synthesizes what we know about mechanisms underlying implemented by SMEs. A thematic analysis led identification examination drivers, enabling factors, challenges for initiatives. Relevant drivers include legitimacy-based motivations, competitive advantage, stakeholder engagement. Enabling factors specific guidelines tools NFR. Lack capabilities lack standardization significant challenges. Second, drawing do not SMEs, novel conceptualization as process characterized three main phases presented.
