In recent years, it has been difficult to remove excess N (mainly NO3–-N) in wastewater with a low ratio of biochemical oxygen demand/chemical demand. The present study combined the operation electrochemical process (with modified brass mesh electrode being used as cathode) and anammox (anaerobic ammonium oxidation) treat high nitrate-simulated investigated overall operating parameters system. Results showed that efficiency system for removal total nitrogen can be stabilized over 76.35% at an feed 300 mg/L NO3–-N, NO2–-N/NH4+-N (around 130 mg/L) effluent part was kept around 1. Although specific activity decreased from 142.07 129.23 mg/g VSS-d, amount secreted extracellular polymeric substances increased initial 152.10 204.12 VSS. main functional bacteria were Candidatus Brocadia (2.80–8.84%) Jettenia (0.94–1.99%). Compared traditional denitrification, composite lags behind but still holds certain economic advantage nitrate counterpart.
