The objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive review clogging that associated with reactive filters applications aimed at phosphorus removal. Reviewed studies used various inlet design strategies: water flow direction (vertical or horizontal), influent pressurization (pressurized by pumps gravity-fed overflow) and feeding distribution types (point, spraying, pipes coarse surface layers). They operational strategies including prefilters, in series, regeneration media, optimization hydraulic retention time, concealment from the air, chemical additions backwashing. Media mixes different particle sizes series were as media selection for mitigation. Small size (0-10 mm) was most reviewed filters, while larger improve distribution. While guidelines do exist, authors did not systematically evaluate suitability flow. Bicarbonate inputs wastewater atmospheric CO2 found impact significantly filter lifetime precipitation. However, report alkalinity inorganic carbon concentration level concealment. recommend following parameters future on RFs: alkalinity; sealing CO2; complete description such pressure, presence overflows, evolution pressure over maintenance events, mode, mode; stability.

Landfill leachate contains various organic and inorganic substances resulting from the decomposition of solid waste. The treatment this complex mixture is an imperative need for environmental protection. This study used five pilot-scale horizontal subsurface flow (HSF) constructed wetland (CW) units to treat landfill leachate. main objective was evaluation performance CW in removal pollutants. effect porous media (gravel zeolite), plants (common reed cattail), hydraulic residence time (HRT, 8 10 days) were investigated. Two differed HRT, two media, three planting. results showed that planted had higher matter (OM) nitrogen (TKN, NH4-N) compared with unplanted unit. 10-day HRT unit average rates all pollutants 8-day HRT. Finally, zeolite (25%, by volume) fill material OM gravel.

Glyphosate (GLY) is the most widely used herbicide in agriculture worldwide, posing a significant contamination risk to rivers, lakes, wetlands, and soils. Its ultimate fate represents potential threat health of both terrestrial aquatic ecosystems. This study evaluated removal efficiency glyphosate conventional pollutants mesocosm-scale horizontal subsurface flow-constructed wetlands planted with Canna indica, Heliconia psittacorum, Alpinia purpurata runoff water contaminated glyphosate. Additionally, examined performances these species monoculture polyculture settings tropical ornamental plants. indica exhibited highest growth (up 160 cm) conditions, as well efficiencies for total nitrogen (TN), phosphorus (TP), phosphate (PO43⁻), achieving 91%, 93%, 98% removal, respectively. Polyculture systems demonstrated superior ammonium efficiency, reaching 94%. (>5 ppm after 40 days) psittacorum 200 were effective removal. can be effectively removed from environments through constructed species, offering sustainable approach mitigating bodies.

Abstract Centralized wastewater treatment plants are expensive, particularly in countries with significant costs. In such cases, a more suitable option is to adopt low-cost alternative technologies. Constructed wetlands (CWs) cost-effective and environmentally beneficial way treat different kinds of wastewater. It’s ecologically practical types It also advisable promote the use decentralized systems, specifically by employing constructed at individual household levels. Therefore, this research sought evaluate efficacy vertical horizontally built for treating greywater. This experimental study used Cyperus alternifolius plant species allocated one day hydraulic retention time (HRT). The mean removal efficiencies horizontal flow systems were 94.39% 93.58%, 94.43% 92.16%, 81.31% 68.08%, 97.12%, 99.42%, 665.18% 726.53% BOD, COD, TSS, Detergent DO increase respectively. Overall, there was similarity effectiveness removing measured pollutants both systems. These results showed that flat or vertically have equal potential as methods
