This study was undertaken to assess the performance of constructed wetland coupled microbial fuel cell (CW-MFC) system treat real tannery wastewater. Five identically designed CW-MFC systems were setup and operated in a batch mode for two operational cycles. To effect filling media, CW1-MFC CW2-MFC filled with polypropylene granules as an innovative whereby, CW3-MFC, CW4-MFC, CW5-MFC packed natural gravel. All CW-MFCs provided cylindrical graphite anodes, but CW2-MFC, used irregular-shaped granular underneath anodes supportive auxiliary anode. Cana indica utilized vegetation model four systems, maintained unplanted considered control system. The results demonstrated that maximum removal efficiencies COD range 98.9%–99.3 %, while, power outputs recorded 351.3, 622.3, 538, 4437 mW/m3 salinity elimination 62 56 52 % CW1-MFC, WC3-MFC, WC4-MFC, respectively. Performance significantly comparable planted CW4-MFC regard generation, lower efficiency 16.43 indicating plant role total dissolved solids. Also, revealed absence arsenic chromium treated effluent. So, besides being effective approach treatment wastewater, it is promising, operationally friendly economically sustainable ecotechnology focus wastewater reclamation its reuse, well energy recovery.

Abstract In this study, graphene-metal oxide photocatalyst (G-Mox) was prepared in a low-cost single step carbonization process for an alternative solution to water scarcity. Photocatalytic polymeric composites were obtained according the nonsolvent induced phase separation technique. Photocatalyst mixed with hydrolyzed cellulose (prepared from textile waste)-PVDF dimethyl formamide solution. Physicochemical and structural properties of powder characterized by X ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis. Photoluminescence analysis contact angle measurements carried out. The photocatalytic synthesized evaluated batch filtration system using methyl orange (MO) as model pollutant. highest decolorization percentage 91.8%. Kinetic studies revealed that Phc-30 composite showed removal capacity at equilibrium Qe:383 among catalysts. flux rejection% Phc-20 cell calculated 42 L.m− 2.h− 1.bar − 1 73% respectively. Phc found be highly reusable suitable membrane materials considerable dye performance easy applicability.
