Optimising the shape and size of large-scale truss frames is challenging because there a nonlinear interaction between cross-sectional nodal coordinate forces structures. Experimental results demonstrate that method consistently outperforms other methods, delivering optimal designs superior 52 % 63.4 %, respectively. signifies substantial enhancement performance, highlighting potential as powerful field structural optimisation.

Abstract Fault section location (FSL) plays a critical role in shortening blackout time and restoring power supply for distribution networks. This paper converts the FSL task into binary optimization problem using feeder terminal unit (FTU) information. The discrepancy between reported overcurrent alarms expected states of FTUs is adopted as objective function. It typical 0–1 combinatorial with many local optima. An improved gaining–sharing knowledge-based algorithm (IBGSK) mutation proposed to effectively solve this challenging problem. Since original GSK cannot be applied search space directly, it easy get stuck optima, IBGSK encodes individuals vectors instead real vectors. Furthermore, operator presented integrated enhance its global ability. two test systems, i.e. IEEE 33-bus network USA PG&E 69-bus network. Simulation results indicate that outperforms other 12 advanced algorithms solution quality, robustness, convergence speed, statistics. equilibrates ability effectively. can diagnose different fault scenarios 100% 99% success rates these respectively.
