Impact of human–induced environmental changes, particularly climate change, on biodiversity and human welfare has become a major concern this century. Their negative effects pollinators pollination, crucial ecoservice for sustenance crop productivity, leading to the 'global pollinator crisis' are well recognized. Serious international efforts being undertaken mitigate crisis. In recent years, artificial light at night (ALAN), which been increasing exponentially since nineteenth century, ecoservices another concern. Effects ALAN have studied extensively number nocturnal pollinators, moths bats. shown affect their behavior, movements, foraging reproduction significant decline in abundance diversity. The impacts largely confined so far moth-pollinated systems, not uniform; many studies reported its few some positive effects. There hardly any pollination services other such as bats, crepuscular (dusk dawn) diurnal pollinators. Studies from India these lines completely lacking. It is important extend species investigated make them more comprehensive get clear knowledge impact develop effective mitigation measures.

Exposure to pesticides may jeopardize pollinators, but it has rarely been examined in urban landscapes. We used larval food provisions (mix of pollen and nectar) mason bees (Osmia spp.) nested artificial shelters as matrices investigate the rate pesticide pollution twelve allotment sites Prague Brno cities. Seven commercial croplands (fruit orchards, oilseed rape fields) were selected for comparison. In total, 79 samples analysed using a validated UPLC–MS/MS method presence 262 and/or important metabolites. Fifty-six residues detected allotments 74 cropland sites. Urban garden spaces are potentially important habitats for bee conservation. Gardens can host diverse flora, which provide floral resources across foraging seasons species. Recent reviews have focused on the impacts of cityscapes urban assemblages in different green spaces. gardens distinct from other spaces, and communities been an increasing topic study over past few decades. We reviewed 28 studies spanning five decades 14 countries to compile original metadataset species' functional traits understand conservation value gardens, identify gaps sampling efforts, summarize calls action included by their authors. Studies bees documented between 674 (conservative count, excluding morphospecies) 830 (liberal including were taxonomically functionally diverse, although species that non-eusocial, ground-nesting, generalist foragers, native most common habitats. The proportion parasitic specialist foragers found was comparable proportions global taxa. This suggests contain hosts forage needed support with specialized life history requirements, thus represent high quality habitat a subset communities. Garden research strongly biased toward northern hemisphere, signifies large gap our understanding regions. variety of, non-standard methods makes it difficult directly compare results studies. In addition, both intentional low taxonomic resolution lack collaboration taxonomists constrains diversity. Our analyses highlight successes studies, areas opportunity future as we move into sixth decade research.

Abstract Obligate floral specialists such as bees are threatened by the loss or degradation of valuable feeding and nesting resources due to human intervention in their natural habitat. Despite land use change anthropogenic influence, flower rich urban green spaces have become an indispensable ecological habitat they provide a refuge for bees. Though species diversity pattern bee distribution has proven usefulness habitats, conservational priorities habitats can be confirmed through phylogeography genetic regional populations. Therefore, present study was conducted determine native keystone Apis cerana indica from space Bangalore, metropolitan city India. The structure gene flow population compared with rural wild populations establish population. analysis 12 microsatellite loci high level polymorphism heterozygosity alleles within well between regions. low degree variance (2%) ruled out any introgression differentiation geographical pairwise FST (<0.1) values ensured allelic frequency (20.909), (He=0.938) assured stable mixing ruling possible threat inbreeding isolation STRUCTURE PCoA further indicated closeness populations, indicating connectivity three locations. merit area long term conservation pollinator species. scientific management friendly along safe guard community modified dominated cities.
