In the current context of urbanization, urban agglomerations face complex challenges in maintaining an ecological balance. This study uses remote sensing images Central Yunnan agglomeration from 2000 to 2020, along with socioeconomic data, analyze spatiotemporal characteristics green space evolution. Utilizing dynamic geographically weighted regression analysis based on principal components (PCA-GWR), we identify key factors influencing these changes and quantitatively driving forces each stage. Our findings reveal a continuing trend decreasing total alongside increasing individual forest types pronounced regional disparities dynamics. The results indicate that exert both positive facilitative effects negative pressures, evident spatial temporal variability. Urbanization economic development promote expansion certain areas, while contributing reduction farmland shrub–grass lands. Significant variations are influenced by such as urbanization rate, agricultural population, industrial composition, fiscal revenue. enhances in-depth understanding relationship between dynamics spaces socially driven mechanisms, offering significant insights for sustainable planning landscape management harmonizing development.

Urban green development is crucial for citizen well-being and serves as a key pillar of sustainable strategies. Collaborative governance mechanisms help address management, technical, financial challenges in urban development. Urban green spaces provide very important environmental and social services. Their dynamic changes are driven by a combination of natural socioeconomic factors. However, the coupling mechanism these factors has not been systematically studied.
