Abstract
Forced
migration,
as
exemplified
by
the
ongoing
Syrian
refugee
crisis,
has
been
linked
to
elevated
psychiatric
issues
such
post-traumatic
stress
disorder
(PTSD),
depression,
anxiety,
and
increased
suicide
risk.
This
study
explores
mediating
role
of
anxiety
sensitivity
(AS)
in
relationship
between
PTSD
symptoms
risk
among
refugees
Turkey.
Data
were
collected
from
574
aged
18–65
years
residing
Bursa
province,
using
validated
self-report
scales,
including
Impact
Events
Scale-Revised
(IES-R),
Beck
Depression
Inventory
(BDI),
Anxiety
Sensitivity
Index-3
(ASI-3),
Suicide
Probability
Scale
(SPS).
Pearson
correlation,
independent
samples
t-test,
multiple
binary
logistic
regression
employed
for
statistical
analysis,
while
mediation
analyses
performed
PROCESS
SPSS.
The
prevalence
participants
was
81.2%.
Regression
indicated
that
IES-R
intrusion
hyperarousal
subscales
risk,
avoidance
ASI-3
physical
concern
decreased
it.
Mediation
analysis
revealed
a
partial
effect
cognitive
suicidal
ideation.
Findings
suggest
addressing
may
help
mitigate
PTSD-affected
migrants.
Additionally,
act
temporary
protective
factors
against
suicide.
These
results
highlight
need
tailored,
trauma-focused
mental
health
interventions
stabilize
before
commencing
treatment
forcibly
displaced
populations.
