Abstract Australia is a significant hotspot for heatwaves due to its geographical location and pronounced climatic variability, heatwave exposure expected further increase in the future with anthropogenic climate change. With intent support United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good health well-being) 13 (Climate action), this study we identified key challenges opportunities adapting heatwaves, focusing on most vulnerable members of our community—older adults. A naturalistic, qualitative approach was selected study. Data were collected via semistructured interviews. Key insights captured through series interviews informants from local government agencies community groups that provide care older adults New South Wales, Australia. Questions centered around current preventative measures adopted by organization regarding level knowledge residents, common effects community. The findings highlight four primary challenges: (1) increasing duration intensity heatwaves; (2) lack among symptoms effect body; (3) financial social impacts (4) inadequate urban planning practices building codes including need creation cool green spaces. This provides important protecting populations growing threat heatwaves.

The association of ambient temperature with the length hospital stays and healthcare costs has not been well-explored. We aimed to examine emergency admission (EHA) count stay (LOS) for total cause-specific circulatory diseases evaluate temperature-related attributable risk costs. The study of the effects climate change and air pollution on human health is an interesting topic for wellbeing projects in urban areas. We present a method highlighting how adverse weather environmental conditions affect influence emergency room admissions during summer area. Daily apparent temperature, biometeorological index, was used to characterize thermal discomfort while atmospheric concentrations PM10 NOX were as indicators unfavorable conditions. analyzed above parameters access, considering all different pathologies. Over four years analyzed, we identified periods which (both pollutant concentrations) unfavorable, persistence these conditions, verified that days, average daily number visits increased. Visits ENT dermatological disorders also showed significant increases. Our analysis access useful evaluating impact climatic period; vice versa, our results could be optimize resource management rooms this specific period year.

Climate change significantly impacts the livelihoods of farmer households. Particularly vulnerable areas, both economically and environmentally, face significant threats from climate change. This study developed a framework to assess household-level vulnerability by integrating Exposure-Sensitivity-Resilience Analysis (ESRA) Sustainable Livelihoods (SLA) frameworks. Using Gui-Zhou Province as area, examined whether livelihood differs among various types households in environmentally areas identified main factors contributing vulnerability. Results indicate differences three household types, with pure agricultural (PAH) being most due high exposure, sensitivity, low adaptive capacity. Further analysis revealed minor sensitivity but capacity categories. In terms all categories exhibit water, housing, production. Regarding capacity, human financial capital exist off-farm (OFH) possessing highest their substantial capital. research exposure primary causes vulnerability, noting no difference Common include cooperatives, labor temperature changes, drought frequency precipitation insurance, losses Overall, proposed offers guidance for analyzing economic environmental vulnerabilities under Concurrently, tailored measures reduce households’ should be different considering local climatic, geographic, socioeconomic conditions.
