Epidemiological studies prove that type II diabetes, characterized by insulin resistance (IR), may be caused fine particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5). However, underlying mechanisms whereby PM2.5, particularly during short-term exposure, induces liver dysfunction leading to IR remains poorly understood. In the present study, HepG2 cells and BALB/c mouse model were used explore how PM2.5 affects sensitivity. The effects of subacute exposure on glucose metabolism examined using commercial kits. Oxidative stress inflammation detected fluorescent staining RT-qPCR. phosphorylation PI3K/AKT was Western blot. Subacute induced IR, as reflected increased levels in cell supernatants, elevated levels, impaired intraperitoneal tolerance test mice. oxidative stress, evidenced reactive oxygen species, cytochrome P450 2E1, malondialdehyde, along with reduced superoxide dismutase 1/2 silent information regulator 1. IL-6 TNF-α found upregulated blot showed inhibited PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, indicated decreased cells. Additionally, H&E only mild hepatic injury mice liver. These results firmly suggest through inflammation, inhibition pathway.

Although the adverse health effects of PM2.5 exposure has been well documented, evidence its effect on overall outpatient visits was still limited. Besides, get complicated due to various components within particles. So far, little is known about relationship between and visits. This study aims evaluate causal relationships long-term primary chemical visits, while estimating mixture relative contribution components. Based nationwide provincial-level surveillance data in China well-validated simulations concentration, we employed Difference-In-Differences (DID) approach used a Bayesian Weighted Quantile Sum (BWQS) regression assess We found 20.44% increase risk (IR%) following each InterQuartile Range (IQR) increment concentration. Our estimation further suggested 17.07%, 15.91%, 14.04% for organic matter, sulfate, nitrate, but non-significant increases other However, when considering inter-components correlation, sulfate black carbon contributed most (42.3% 28.1%, respectively) which indicated by 4.84% (95%CI: 1.92%, 7.83%) every unit BWQS index. Additionally, stratified analyses showed stronger association among aged provinces with lower education rates. findings would improve understanding individual impact major may contribute more targeted optimized environmental programs pollution control.

Diabesity, a co-occurrence of diabetes and obesity, is growing public health concern globally. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, surrogate marker insulin resistance, has been associated with various metabolic disorders. This study aimed to investigate the association between TyG index new-onset diabesity in national longitudinal study. We utilized data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). Baseline first wave (2011) follow-up third (2015) were analyzed. A Competing risks model based on Fine Gray's subdistribution hazard approach was employed examine developing three mutually exclusive outcomes: remaining free alone, (co-occurrence obesity). total 6,976 participants included analysis. During mean period 4.0 years, 557 155 recorded, respectively. After adjusting for socio-demographic information, lifestyle comorbidities, compared lowest quartile TyG, corresponding adjusted ratios (HRs) 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) second, third, fourth quartiles 2.112 CI: 1.047–4.259; P-value = 0.037), 2.911 1.481–5.722, 0.002), 4.305 2.220–8.346, < 0.001). alone equally significant when treated as competing risk. Sensitivity analyses proved robustness results. provides evidence that higher an increased risk diabesity.
