lysosomes
were
primarily

Recent
discoveries
have
expanded
lysosomal
functional
scope
revealed
their
critical
roles
in
nutrient
sensing,
epigenetic
regulation,
plasma
membrane
repair,
lipid
transport,
ion
homeostasis,
cellular
stress
response.
Lysosomal
dysfunction
is
also
found

associated
with
aging

Atherosclerosis
(AS)
is
a
chronic
inflammatory
disease
that

large

medium-sized
arteries

This
article
reviews
multifaceted
role
mitochondrial
DNA
(mtDNA)
in
AS,
including
its
structure,
function,
release,
relationship
with
inflammation.
