We tested the directionality of associations between children’s early-life cognitive development and stimulation that they received from their parents. Our sample included up to 15,314 children Twins Early Development Study (TEDS), who were born 1994 1996 in England Wales assessed at age 3 4 years on stimulation, including singing rhymes, reading books, playing games.Using genetically informative cross-lagged models, we found consistent, bidirectional effects 4, 4. These longitudinal largely explained by underlying common genetic shared environmental factors, rather than reflecting causal mechanisms. findings emphasize active role play constructing own learning experiences.
