The objective of the present study was to characterize chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) tannin product, Farmatan Plus® (Tanin Sevnica d.d., Sevnica, Slovenia), and subsequently examine its effects on blood metabolic parameters fattening lambs, particularly in relation their health status. Thirty lambs were randomly divided into three treatment groups: a control group without added two groups that received 9.46 g product/kg diet dry matter (DM) 18.87 DM. Metabolic such as contents total protein, globulin, urea, liver enzymes (AST GGT) measured over trial period 60 days evaluate supplementation. This represents first in-depth characterization Plus®, demonstrating richness bioactive compounds vescalin castalagin. results showed no significant adverse lamb health, with all remaining within normal physiological ranges (p > 0.05). These support safe inclusion tannins underline potential functional feed additive can positively influence growth performance ruminants.

The high degradability of crude protein (CP) from fresh grass can impair its utilization in ruminants. presence a moderate level polyphenolic substances the diet grazing animals could help to overcome this problem. study aimed evaluate effects supplementation with two varieties faba bean, different polyphenol contents, on milk yield and quality, as well behaviour, Cinisara cows. A total 30 cows, homogeneous per days (61 ± 29) (12.9 kg 3.2), fed mixed pasture (CP 17.9% DM) supplied grains (an equal mixture barley, oats, wheat) hay 10.2% DM), were assigned three dietary treatments supplemented follows: control group (C, 10 cows), 1 hay, 6 mixture, 0.4 soybean meal; low polyphenols (LP, 4 2 kg/d bean var. Torrelama (total 4.4 mg GAE/g DM; CP 28.4% DM); (HP, Fanfare 16.4 28.9% DM). All groups allowed graze for 20 h/d natural forage. HP supplement tended increase compared that LP C (17.1 vs. 15.3 14.6 kg/d, respectively; p = 0.057) but reduced (3.20 3.39 3.47%; 0.009) casein proportions (2.45 2.67 2.74%, 0.007) those treatments. also showed higher urea nitrogen (MUN) value milk, while an intermediate was measured (25.5 22.9 20.9 mg/dl, 0.036). No effect evident fatty acid profile. Eating time at biting rate not affected by supplementation. results do seem suggest difference efficiency use supplements contents. In any case, they demonstrate beans, regardless their content, represents valid alternative soyabeans, taking into account tendency increased found integrating beans possessing polyphenols, without significant worsening qualitative characteristics or negatively affecting behaviour.

This study was conducted to compare the effects of hydrolysable versus condensed tannins on growth performance, nutrient digestion, and rumen fermentation in goats. A total 27 Liaoning cashmere goats with similar initial body weights were randomly distributed into three groups: a basal diet, diet +0.5% tannic acid (hydrolysable tannin, HT), or quebracho tannin (condensed CT), respectively. Compared control group, HT showed decreased (p < 0.05) feed intake, while CT an increased intake weight gain. Digestibility dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, fiber did not differ > among groups. The group lower pH acetic concentration 0.05), decrease abundances Verrucomicrobia Methanobrevibacter. Supplementation levels dihydrouracil, xanthosine, alpha-D-mannose, L-tryptophan, these metabolites. In conclusion, this suggested that responses ruminal microbiota metabolite profiles type varied, displayed more positive effect performance than when supplemented at same level diets.

This experiment aimed to study the effects of tannin supplementation on growth performance, rumen fermentation characteristics, apparent digestibility and serum biochemistry, antioxidant immune indexes in fattening lambs. A total 36 male Hu sheep lambs (body weight = 15.83 ± 0.48 kg days age 55 2 d) were fed a high-concentrate diet randomly divided into one three groups 12 animals each: control with no (CON) treatments (TA1, 3 g/d per lamb; TA2, 6 lamb). The feeding lasted for 60 d. results showed that average daily gain ruminal propionate content TA1 group higher (
