The trees in a given stand compete with each other for light, water and nutrients, producing spatial effects. To understand effects, it is critical to characterise the distributions patterns of aboveground biomass (AGB) individual their components (stem, bark, branches foliage). This study investigated effects by examining AGB context typical sub-tropical tree species Yunnan, China, including Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis natural forest (PN), plantation (PP), Eucalyptus spp. (EP), using datasets three clear-cutting plots. Ripley's L function was employed identify components. Then, Global Local Moran's I indices were utilised analyse autocorrelation, Intra-group variance being calculated quantify heterogeneity. led following findings. Firstly, increasing distance, heterogeneity stands increased before stabilising at distance 10 m. Secondly, excluding all PN exhibited significant dispersion. In contrast, PP showed EP indicated coexistence clustering Moreover, autocorrelations could be noticed but depending on stands, distances. These findings provide theoretical support sustainable management based carbon stocks.

Abstract. Rock fractures are a key contributor to broad array of Earth surface processes due their direct control on rock strength as well porosity and permeability. However, date, there has been no standardization for the quantification in process research. In this work, case is made within fracture-focused research, prior work reviewed identify various datasets methodologies. Then, suite standardized methods presented starting “baseline” fracture-based research studies. These have shown pre-existing from structural geology, geotechnical engineering, disciplines comprise best practices characterization clasts outcrops. This practical, accessible, detailed guide can be readily employed across all weathering geomorphology applications. The wide adoption baseline data collected using same will enable comparison compilation among studies globally ultimately lead better understanding links feedbacks between fracture landscape evolution.

Here we present a methodology that quantifies fracture arrangement in space as function of position (barycenters), size (trace length 2D), and orientation (variation strike). We use point process statistics to analyze distances between barycenters estimate confidence interval for randomness is compared with input data. The can discriminate at least four types spatial arrangements identifies preferential associations orientation. apply our method two naturally fractured formations show it determine under significant statistical confidence.
