The Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework calls for at least 30% of land and sea to be protected by 2030. Whilst there is growing evidence that areas can benefit biodiversity, achieve the greatest possible gains from their expansion, we must understand how area quality impacts upon biodiversity metrics. We used UK BTO/JNCC/RSPB Breeding Bird Survey data condition national Common Standards Monitoring, test whether improving site (for which are policy targets) would contribute stated targets increase species' abundance. After controlling differences in climate, cover, elevation, found a positive association between proportion favourable habitat bird abundance trends UK, while Wales, Scotland Northern Ireland combined, effect was also significantly greater than unfavourable habitat. Conversely, negative on There no these relationships varied conservation status or many traits considered, although some beneficial specialists, cold-adapted species, Our findings suggest currently condition, will nature recovery as measured circumstances. This suggests achieving "30 30" target without ensuring those sufficient quality, may not restore biodiversity.

Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are essential to reach the UN Ocean’s Decade challenges and Sustainable Development Goal 14 (life bellow water – conserve coastal marine areas), their crucial role for health of planet was highlighted in United Nations Ocean Conference. However, often these MPA’s no more than Paper Parks, with poor financial human resources, thus lacking effectiveness. Moreover, they frequently trigger conflicts local communities, by imposing restrictions activities alternative or compensations, causing serious governance inefficiencies. Thus, within Oceans Decade, must face simultaneously three challenges: Protect restore ecosystems biodiversity (Challenge 2); Develop a sustainable equitable ocean economy 4) Change humanity’s relationship 10). To address those challenges, it becomes clear that management models had find ways value natural capital and, at same time, involve communities stakeholders processes. The conservation has both direct indirect economic benefits many sectors economy, namely tourism, being ecotourism considered one segments particularly adequate capital. Ecotourism, defined as “environmentally responsible travel visitation relatively undisturbed areas”, enjoy appreciate nature, is used enhance capital, while protecting promoting protected areas. Several studies have been carried out about all over world, 21 st century. In this article, we analyzed several case focusing MPAs, better understand connection between development industry, blue efforts conservation. From analysis conducted, conclude community participation paramount importance achieving although there still room new advances improving good governance.

We provide the first global assessment of status preferential access areas (PAAs), a relatively understudied policy tool to govern small-scale fisheries. find 44 countries, most them low or low-middle income, have established total 63 PAAs encompassing 3% continental shelf area worldwide. The analysis an ad-hoc subsample twelve countries in three continents for which data were available (2016–2017) revealed that supported greater amounts fisheries marine catch volume, landed value, fishing self-consumption, and more nutritious species than outside PAAs. This preliminary suggests if appropriately enforced through shared governance with fishers responsible practices, small ocean could important nutrition security, economic, employment benefits millions people living coastal areas. offer agenda future research action based on our findings.

Sustainable tourism development is increasingly recognized as vital for balancing economic growth with environmental conservation, particularly in regions like Indonesia, where a crucial driver of the economy. However, effectiveness current public policies promoting sustainable remains to be determined. This study aims evaluate on Indonesia through comprehensive systematic literature review. A rigorous selection studies was conducted using PICOC (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, Context) framework, analyzing successful and underperforming policies. The review identifies significant gaps, including poor policy coordination, stakeholder conflicts, resource limitations, which hinder implementation practices. findings suggest that enhancing integration, increasing engagement, incorporating advanced technologies better management are critical achieving sustainability goals. provides evidence-based recommendations policymakers improve Indonesia’s policies’ efficiency adaptability. These insights essential aligning goals (SDGs), ensuring long-term rapidly expanding sector.
