Abstract. Radical and quick transformations towards sustainability will be fundamental to achieving a more sustainable future. However, deliberate interventions reconfigure systems result in winners losers, with the potential for greater or lesser equity justice outcomes. Positive tipping points (PTPs) have been proposed as complex aim (a) reduce likelihood of negative Earth system and/or (b) increase just social foundations. many narratives around PTPs often do not take into account entire spectrum impacts alternatives could still rely on that maintain current unsustainable behaviours marginalize people (i.e. “b” account). One such example is move from petrol-based electric vehicles. An energy transition remains based natural resource inputs Global South must unpacked an lens understand true cost this transition. There are two arguments why critical engagement these other similar proposals needs made. First, idea transitioning through substitution (e.g. fuel) while maintaining structure private vehicles) may necessarily conceived kind radical transformation being called by global scientific bodies like Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC) Science-Policy Platform Biodiversity Ecosystem Services (IPBES). Second, probably importantly, question positive whom, where, how considered. In paper, we unpack using decolonial view south outline their implications concept points.

The dual-tracked deep-sea mining vehicles used for sea trials generally cannot meet the demands of large-scale manganese nodules production due to their inadequate load bearing and traction performance. Various seabed organizations have gradually started four-tracked as traveling ore collection machines demand enhanced tractive A notable challenge encountered is significant front-rear track effect observed when these navigate soft-cohesive sediments. Addressing this, our study introduces a novel design concept that involves setting grouser heights with deviation between front rear tracks, coupled development force-slip rate model inspired by this innovative approach. This facilitates an in-depth analysis effect, including phenomena such deep sinkage increase in pitch angle experienced on terrains. It calculated height only 2 cm can improve force 21%. Utilizing multi-body dynamics (MBD) method, we validated effectiveness adjustment mitigating effects, demonstrating its potential reduce at least 30 mm 0.3 degrees, thereby guiding optimization strategy. Finally, through simulation, present optimized structural parameter sets suitable three types pavement, concluding soft silty soil, saturated high cohesive sandy should be approximately 5.3, 4.1, 2.0 cm, respectively. After applying sets, performance evaluation indexes, force-disturbing area ratio, improved 23.4% 3.3%, Meanwhile, static was reduced 21.4% across pavements.

Abstract In light of the interlinkages between marine biodiversity and protection human rights, this article explores relevance international rights law to decision‐making processes at International Seabed Authority (ISA). It illuminates ISA decisions for everyone's right a healthy environment, as well indigenous peoples other communities that have cultural connections seabed, children environmental defenders. On these bases, assesses current practices in relation public participation ISA, revealing obligations procedure substance appear overlooked context. The concludes by outlining steps member States should take enhance on deep‐seabed mining. addition, it identifies an immediate opportunity independent review could help clarify how can support delivering its complex mandate regulate mining activities beyond national jurisdiction protect environment benefit humankind.
