Nichols' common goby Rhinogobius cliffordpopei (Nichols, 1925) is a small-bodied benthic carnivorous fish, and native to central southeast China.Due the interregional commercial exchanges of aquaculture aquatic trade, it has widely introduced numerous water bodies outside original range in China, but not been found Tibet.During fish survey May 2022, we collected 22 individuals R. cliffordpopei, including five juveniles, from four sites Yarlung Zangbo River Tibet. This finding suggests that established wild populations Zangbo. To protect endemic species, government departments should strictly limit release reduce potential risks non-native species.

Score-based decision-support tools are increasingly used to identify potentially invasive non-native species as part of the risk screening (initial identification) component analysis.Amongst these Weed Risk Assessment (WRA) and its derivatives, e.g. Aquatic Species Invasiveness Screening Kit (AS-ISK), which have been extensively on a large variety terrestrial aquatic plants animals worldwide. In this paper, correction is made previous guidance use two separate thresholds risk-rank species, i.e. one for current climate conditions (basic assessment: BRA threshold) future (BRA + change BRA+CCA threshold).Re-evaluation practice reveals that, avoid incorrect risk-ranking only threshold should be in all applications WRAtype toolkits that include set climate-change questions -at present, involves AS-ISK newly released Terrestrial Animal (TAS-ISK).As result revised guidance, published studies containing date reviewed here, where approrpiate corrected ranks provided were risk-ranked using threshold.Corrections also whenever applicable errors or based reviewed.

The risk screening of non-native species that are likely to be invasive in a defined assessment area is crucial for implementing strategies rapid response and mitigation protect native biodiversity socio-economic activities. However, successful risk-ranking the screened species, scientifically defensible evidence support outcomes must provided, computation correctly calibrated threshold distinguish between medium-risk high-risk achieved. This paper reviews published applications "second-generation" Weed Risk Assessment-type decision tools (i.e. Aquatic Species Invasiveness Screening Kit Terrestrial Animal Kit) evaluates them terms above two requirements. Several procedural errors were identified involved: i) lack provision report with details species-specific screenings; ii) incomplete justifications responses toolkit questionnaire; iii) protocol used priori categorisation computation; iv) unaccepted or non-existent taxonomic names (including typographical errors). Guidelines provided both assessors reviewers ensure these avoided future toolkits.

Abstract In November 2022, two shimofuri (marbled) gobies Tridentiger bifasciatus Steindachner, 1881 were caught in the Gent–Terneuzen shipping canal, Belgium. It is first record of species Europe. Outside its native distribution area Japan, China and South Korea, thus far goby has been observed only on West Coast USA, where established populations exist. The introduction vector potentially was ballast water exchange.

Prevention of non-native species introductions and establishment is essential to avoid adverse impacts invasive in marine environments. To identify potential new inform management options for the northern Gulf Mexico (Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas), 138 were risk screened current future climate conditions using Aquatic Species Invasiveness Screening Kit. risk-ranked as low, medium, high, very high based on separate (calibrated) thresholds fishes, tunicates, invertebrates. In basic screening, 15 two 26 invertebrates classified or under conditions. Whereas, conditions, 16 three 33 risk. Very included: California scorpionfish Scorpaena guttata , red scrofa purple whelk Rapana venosa Santo Domingo false mussel Mytilopsis sallei both climates, with weedy Rhinopias frondosa Papuan Scorpaenopsis papuensis daggertooth pike conger Muraenesox cinereus yellowfin neglecta tassled oxycephalus brush-clawed shore crab Hemigrapsus takanoi honeycomb oyster Hyotissa hyotis carinate rock shell Indothais lacera Asian green Perna viridis change only. This study provides evidence trans-boundary plans across five states prevent, detect, respond rapidly arrivals.

The Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 evoked academic interest various aspects international security and stability. main objective this study was to elicit the essential features indicators for gauging current state cross-border cooperation risks confrontation around transboundary transitional waters, i.e., those waters where two or more countries share an estuary, delta, lagoon while having a contiguous border territorial waters. Cooperation Confrontation Index comprises five facets 25 spread equally among these facets. following are based on integrated values with which each water body is calculated: 1. Socioeconomic Cohesion; 2. Environmental Coherence; 3. Cross-border Connectivity; 4. Co-operation; 5. Risk. A comprehensive worldwide inventory created. investigation results show that eight areas under high risk, six no risk. conclusion risk closely correlated level corruption bellicose country sharing body.

ABSTRACT This paper outlines the scientific achievements of Gordon H. Copp (1956–2023) in fish biology and invasion science as presented his Doctor Science portfolio. Gordon's mentorship began during postdoctoral research expanded to involve students, early‐career researchers well prominent biologists a vast number projects. Early career, was involved study floodplain communities for which he developed novel technique sampling young‐of‐year (0+) early ontogeny fishes. later involvement non‐native species policy has been pivotal, from developing risk analysis schemes freshwater fishes advising on EU UK regulations. throughout entire career pumpkinseed sunfish Lepomis gibbosus model highlights focus understanding predicting invasiveness under varying climate conditions, contributing broader impacts.
