It remains a popular question whether rare earth oxides encourage reinforcing phases to the uniform distribution in cermet coating improve mechanical properties. This study applied laser cladding prepare TiAl/WC/CeO2 MMC coatings on TC21 alloy substrate. The effects of CeO2 content phase composition, microstructure formation, evolution mechanism, and properties were investigated. Results show that incorporation did not change composite coating, but shape TiC has close relation content. enhanced fluidity molten pool, which further encouraged TiC/Ti2AlC core-shell reinforcement phase. With increase content, optimized contributed homogenous fine grain size.
