Abstract Objective Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) remains a significant clinical challenge with limited treatment options. Although EEG neurofeedback has garnered attention as prospective modality for PTSD, no comprehensive meta-analysis been conducted to assess its efficacy and compare different protocols. This study aims provide multi-variable meta-regression analysis of neurofeedback's impact on PTSD symptoms, while also assessing variables that may influence outcomes. Methods A systematic review was performed identify controlled trials studying the PTSD. The overall effectiveness evaluated through meta-analysis, employed discern which protocols were more efficacious than others. Results yielded statistically reduction in symptoms immediately post-intervention, sustained effects at one three months follow-up. sub-analysis sham-controlled studies confirmed outcomes not driven by placebo effects. Our findings identified target frequency region, well feedback modality, factors success. In contrast, related duration found be moderators, suggesting cost-effectiveness. Conclusions emerges promising cost-effective potential long-term benefits. commonly utilized advocate further research into alternative methodologies improve efficacy.

Introduction Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health caused by experiencing or witnessing traumatic events. Recent studies show that patients with PTSD have an increased risk of developing dementia, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), but there currently no way to predict which will go on develop AD. The objective this study was identify structural and functional neural changes in may contribute the future development Methods Neuroimaging (pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling [pCASL] magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]) behavioral data for current ( n = 67) were taken from our non-randomized open label clinical trial ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03229915) treatment-seeking individuals 40) age-matched healthy controls (HC; 27). Only baseline measures utilized study. Mean cerebral blood flow (CBF) gray matter (GM) volume compared between groups. Additionally, we two previously established machine learning-based algorithms, one representing AD-like brain activity (Machine AD Designation [MAD]) other focused (AD-like Brain Structure [ABS]). MAD scores calculated pCASL ABS T 1 -MRI images. Correlations neuroimaging (regional CBF, GM volume, scores, scores) symptom severity measured clinician-administered scale DSM-5 (CAPS-5) assessed. Results Decreased CBF observed regions (left caudate/striatum left inferior parietal lobule/middle temporal lobe) group, HC group. also group right lobe (parahippocampal gyrus, middle lobe), within cluster negatively correlated CAPS-5 Conclusion suggest reduced gyrus) experienced greater showed more activity. These results potential early identification those who be at dementia.

This review summarizes recent research publications (2019-2024) on the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), its negative effects, predictors/risk factors for disorder, interventions and potential underlying biological mechanisms. The PTSD has widely ranged from 10-70% those experiencing a traumatic event most frequently involved samples that have experienced was related to earthquakes (in Haiti, Japan, Nepal). effects included cognitive disability, sleep disorders, medical conditions/diseases, depression mortality. include female gender, worrying, rumination, anxiety, depression, neuroinflammation loss friends, relatives, pets and/or property. reducing stigma PTSD, alternative therapies including yoga mindfulness, behavioral therapy medications. Potential mechanisms hypothalamic pituitary adrenal system dysfunction involving elevated cortisol during immediate depletion prolonged stress, connectivity in brain as well white grey matter gene pathways. These been noted “fear learning memory network” prefrontal, amygdala, hippocampal anterior cingulate cortex regions brain. Methodological limitations being primarily with following self-report data cross-sectional studies cannot suggest causality.

Yoga has been increasingly practiced in recent years, with many of its practitioners being female. Adults may seek a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modality, such as yoga, to attempt alleviate symptoms related mental health conditions post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our goal for this systematic review was collect analyze all available data from quantitative qualitative reports randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted over the past 10 years on impact yoga women diagnosed PTSD. We included RCTs adult female population which more than one week. searched databases PubMed, PubMed Central (PMC), MEDLINE June 11, 2022, Embase 12, Science Direct 13, find relevant articles. With Cochrane RoB2 tool Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) criteria, we checked their quality, after selected 13 high-quality comprising seven original study designs total 496 women. Of reports, nine evaluated effectiveness, four assessed feasibility, three explored acceptability, identified themes. compared results based found effective, feasible, acceptable, viable interoceptive pathway emotional personal growth. Limitations our include insufficient papers large sample sizes not including other RCTs. research, hope present healthcare providers research-based effects so that they better navigate role therapy trend seeing patients taking an interest approaches rises.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a neuropsychiatric that can develop after experiencing or witnessing traumatic event. Exposure therapy common treatment for PTSD, but it has varying levels of efficacy depending on sex. In this study, we aimed to compare the sexual dimorphism in brain activation during extinction fear conditioning male and female rats by detecting c-fos whole brain.
