Canine parvovirus (CPV-2) and feline (FPV) cause severe hemorrhagic diarrhea disease in dogs, cats, fur-bearing wildlife carnivores worldwide, continuing to pose significant threats. In this study, 140 rectal swabs were collected from 70 domestic dogs cats with clinical veterinary clinics Changchun during 2020. A total of 64.3% (45/70) 55.7% (39/70) tested positive for CPV-2 or FPV using colloidal gold strips. Amino acid (aa) sequence alignment the VP2 protein 39 36 samples revealed that 79.5% (31/39) CPV-2c, 17.9% (7/39) a new CPV-2a, 2.6% (1/39) mink enteritis virus (MEV). 8.3% (3/36) was infected by CPV-2, which suggested CPV-2c dominant variant major pathogen city. Phylogenetic relationships genes showed 26 parvoviruses closely related strains previously published China; however, 8 FPVs CPV-JL-15/China/2020 clustered lineage South Asiatic European countries, 7 out close Italy. addition Q247H, I248Y, F544Y, E/V545V/K, two novel site mutations N23D L630P NS1 protein, associated viral cross-species transmissions, first found as reminder genetic variants same branch. Thus, regular massive surveillance is necessary cope its ongoing infection, circulation, mutations, evolutions subtypes strong survival abilities.

Despite over four decades since its emergence, canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2) remains a relevant disease for dogs. Few studies, primarily only recent ones based on phylodynamic and phylogeography approaches, have highlighted the impact of rapid long-distance transport dogs CPV-2 spreading dynamics. The present study reports genomic characterization strain detected in dog introduced into Italy from coasts North Africa through Mediterranean Sea route to Europe. nearly complete sequence was obtained analyzed. viral isolate characterized as CPV-2b variant, showing genetic signatures distinct those strains date Phylodynamic phylogeographic approaches revealed close correlation with recently reported Middle East (Turkey Egypt), which likely originated or co-evolved Asian ones. It is at least suggestive that inferred pattern overlaps routes often followed by migrants travelling Asia Europe, passing Africa. This evidence introduction via Europe highlights role movements global spread emerging re-emerging pathogens.
