Abstract Special wettability fibrous materials have received a lot of attention because their good connectivity, mechanical flexibility, large specific surface area, and ease shape manipulation. Their outstanding performance paves the way toward efficient oil/water separation in variety environments for requirements. This paper discusses distinct advantages, challenges, future research directions various substrates materials, such as nonwoven natural biomass fibers, fabrics, electrospinning metallic inorganic nonmetallic fibers. The special filter adsorbents are summarized based on different methods. principles preparation wettabilities introduced, unique advantages emphasized. strategy is discussed, well some representative work progress. benefits, drawbacks, terms examined. article emphasizes pollution resistance elasticity adsorbents. Finally, prospects problems, development used discussed.
