Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), a fundamental material in the fabrication of microfluidic devices, suffers from nonspecific adsorption biological samples due to its hydrophobic nature. Herein, by employing radiation-induced grafting strategy introduce hydrophilic functional groups onto PDMS surface, significant improvement hydrophilicity is achieved, leading notable reduction contact angle up ∼90° and antifouling performance against samples. Effects between monomer concentration, efficiency, mechanical integrity are balanced optimize process, achieving promised enhancement while properties not degraded. The content carboxyl exposed on surface grafted was computationally analyzed using MD simulations, which revealed key role wettability surface. Our study extensively showcases effective acrylic acid PDMS, characterized diverse rates. Remarkably, modification stable over time compared conventional plasma treatment, offering more reliable enduring strategy, making it valuable for chips with extensive applications.
