Postharvest disease caused by fungi is a major issue that leads to quality decline and economic losses in mango fruit during storage distribution. TGA transcription factors pathogenesis-related proteins (PR) play crucial roles modulating plant tolerance pathogens. However, the of TGAs resistance remain unclear. Here, we investigated impact applying antagonist Bacillus siamensis (N-1) on occurrence expression levels MiTGA1 MiPR1 genes "Tainong No. 1" mango. We also explored molecular mechanism interaction with gene. Results demonstrated N-1 treatment significantly increased level hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) effectively suppressed expansion at 25 °C. Analyses transcriptome data qRT-PCR revealed obvious up-regulation response treatment. Further subcellular localization identified protein as being located nucleus. Yeast one-hybrid (Y1H) dual-luciferase reporter (DLR) assays confirmed could bind promoter activate its transcription. Furthermore, transient over-expression was found enhance accumulation disease-resistant substances such H2O2 expression, thereby bolstering fruit. Our study suggests promising target gene may contribute induction decay mitigation postharvest

Horticultural crops are vulnerable to diverse microbial infections, which have a detrimental impact on their growth, fruit quality, and productivity. Currently, chemical pesticides widely employed manage diseases in horticultural crops, but they negative effects the environment, human health, soil physiochemical properties, biodiversity. Additionally, use of has facilitated development spread resistant pathovars, emerged as serious concern contemporary agriculture. Nonetheless, adverse consequences environment public health worried scientists greatly recent years, led switch biocontrol agents such bacteria, fungi, insects control plant pathogens. Biocontrol (BCAs) form an integral part organic farming, is regarded future sustainable Hence, harnessing potential BCAs important viable strategy disease way that also ecofriendly can improve health. Here, we discuss role biological crops. We different microbial-based fungal, bacterial, viral management. Next, factors affect performance under field conditions. This review highlights genetic engineering enhance efficiency other growth traits. Finally, highlight challenges opportunities biocontrol-based management horticulture research directions boost efficacy applications.

Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (S. miltiorrhiza) is one of the most commonly used bulk herbs in China; however, root rot can seriously affect its quality and yields. To minimize use chemical pesticides for managing this plant fungal disease, biological control utilizing microbial bio-pesticides offers a promising alternative. This study aimed to enhance biocontrol resources available combating S. by isolating actinomycetes with antifungal activity from rhizosphere soil identifying preventive effect on rot. A total 35 were successfully screened miltiorrhizae. The strain B-35 strongest was out through antagonizing pathogen Fusarium solani miltiorrhiza, morphology 16S rRNA analysis. antagonistic fermentation filtrate crude extract could significantly destroy mycelium spores solani; mature rhizome reached 83.3%, number leaves, height biomass treatment group increased compared group. has certain application potential promotion sourced been demonstrated first time, potentially enhancing future crop production.

Bacillus halotolerans, a halophilic bacterial species of the genus Bacillus, is emerging as biological control agent with immense potential for sustainable agriculture, particularly in extreme conditions and environmental rehabilitation. This review summarizes current state research on B. emphasizing its diverse applications biocontrol plant pathogens, growth promotion under salinity stress, nematode management, bioremediation. halotolerans utilizes several mechanisms such production siderophores phytohormones, secretion exopolysaccharides, release antifungal nematicidal compounds, which allows it to mitigate both abiotic biotic stresses various crops, including wheat, rice, date palm, tomato, others. In addition, genomic metabolomic analyses have revealed secondary metabolite that improves antagonistic growth-promoting traits. Despite significant progress, challenges remain translating laboratory results into field applications. Future should focus formulating effective bioinoculants trials maximize practical utility agriculture resilience.

Sugarcane smut, caused by Sporisorium scitamineum, is a major disease threatening global sugarcane production. Biological control agents (BCAs) offer environmentally sustainable alternatives to chemical fungicides, with Bacillus velezensis recognized for its broad-spectrum antifungal properties. In this study, B. ZHR0 was isolated from leaves and evaluated activity through in vitro dual-culture assays vivo greenhouse trials. Field application of ZHR0-based biofertilizer achieved maximum efficiency 43.86%. Whole-genome sequencing revealed 4.04 Mb genome GC content 46.48%, encoding 4,150 genes, including multiple biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) associated secondary metabolite showed that inhibited the growth S. scitamineum 53.20% reduced incidence seedlings 45.74%. Notably, BGCs iturin, fengycin, surfactin, difficidin were identified, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) confirmed production supporting role activity. These findings demonstrate biocontrol potential against smut provide integrated genomic metabolomic evidence as agent cultivation.
