Currently, urine samples for bacterial or fungal infections require a long diagnostic period (48 h). In the present work, point-of-care device known as an electronic nose (eNose) has been designed based on “smell print” of infections, since each one emits various volatile organic compounds (VOC) that can be registered by systems and recognized in very short time. Urine were analyzed parallel using culture eNose technology. A total 203 analyzed, which 106 infected 97 not infected. principal component analysis (PCA) was performed these data. The algorithm initially capable correctly classifying 49% samples. By SVM-based models, it is possible to improve accuracy classification up 74% when randomly 85% data training 15% validation. model evaluated having correct rate 74%. conclusion, high, promising amenable further improvement, potential become feasible, reproducible, low-cost high-precision applied clinical practice diagnosis urinary tract infections.
