ABSTRACT The study of insects has historically been linked to the development microscopy. As techniques have improved, research into insect morphology can increasingly contribute a better understanding structures and functions morphological characters insects' three tagmata. We propose use methodologies applied in microscopy as way improving facilitating fly genitalia. In addition, flies preserved 70% alcohol were used verify feasibility distinguishing ultrastructural spermatozoa, when not previously fixed for preservation structures. shown that it is viable enhance specimens using scanning electron technique. observation genitalia this technique, together with confocal laser microscopy, enables visualization, description, characteristics also noted, analysis transmission possible recover describe some features ultrastructure Toxomerus politus (Say, 1823) sperm, obtained from stored long period time. Comparison between methods investigate T. , observed after preserving specimen, already demonstrates importance appropriate methodology starting point reliable results. adopted work potential be extrapolated other species broad context.
