Citric acid-based carbon dots (CA-CDs) with different amounts of heteroatoms N were obtained through hydrothermal synthesis method. The microstructure, optical, antibacterial and anticorrosive behaviors systematically analyzed. Through detection, the atoms existed in form pyridine-like N, pyrrole-like graphitic promoted grain coarsening dots. CA-N-CDs displayed obvious pH dependence good stability from optical behavior analysis. ability citric was improved by inserting atom, rate directly proportional to amount which up 95% for E. coli S. aureus. However, anticorrosion showed an initial increase followed a decrease as atom increased, reaching its peak at CA-N12%-CDs. At this moment, corrosion current density (icorr) metal 4.68 × 10−6 A/cm2, decreased 122 times compared blank solution. Meanwhile, inhibition (IE) 96%, mainly depended on tight adsorption surface.
