Underbalanced foam drilling (UBFD) requires stable systems that maintain low density and high carrying capacity under elevated pressure temperature (EPT) conditions. However, achieving stability performance in challenging environments remains critical. This study explores the novel application of Saudi calcium bentonite as an additive to enhance ammonium alcohol ether sulfate (AAES)-based foams, addressing stability, rheology, resistance hydrocarbon contamination. AAES-based foams were prepared using synthetic seawater a mildly alkaline environment, with without at various concentrations. Foam viscosity evaluated ambient EPT conditions (1000 psi, 90 °C) dynamic high-pressure analyzers, while contamination tests assessed robustness. Rheological properties, including yield strength viscosity, measured evaluate cuttings transport efficiency. The addition 4 g/L significantly improved evidenced by extended half-life (+ 80 min) enhanced liquid retention. analysis revealed fourfold increase shear rates ninefold enhancement strength, enabling superior transport. AAES-bentonite outperformed commercial maintaining results suggest promising for UBD systems, delivering contaminant advancement supports more efficient sustainable operations saline high-temperature environments.
