The central Ni II atom in the title complex, [Ni(C 25 H 31 N 2 O 3 ) ], is located on crystallographic inversion center and adopts a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry defined by imine nitrogen amide oxygen donors of two chelating symmetry-related ligands trans configuration. Ni—N Ni—O bond lengths are 1.8685 (15) 1.8409 (14) Å, respectively, with N—Ni—O angle 83.79 (6)°. These data agreement those determined for complexes similar ligands.

Ni(II) complexes (NiL1-NiL4) of 2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxaldehyde-4(N)-substituted thiosemicarbazones and 2,2′-bipyridine ligands were prepared characterized by various spectroscopic techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis), 1H NMR mass spectroscopy. The binding the to nickel ion was through their azomethine nitrogen thiolate sulfur atoms. redox properties analyzed cyclic voltammetry. affinity with CT-DNA (Calf Thymus DNA) BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) studied using absorption emission methods. complex NiL3 exhibited better activity high constant value both DNA BSA. Antiproliferative ability explored against human cervical cancer cells HeLa normal embryonic kidney HEK. morphological changes induced on AO-EB DAPI staining assays. results obtained from cytotoxicity studies showed towards inhibiting growth cells, whereas non toxic nature proved HEK cells.
