The effectiveness of a copper(II) complex with Schiff base derived from 2-amino-4-phenyl-5-methylthiazole and salicylaldehyde (APMS) as corrosion inhibitor for XC18 steel in an HCl solution was investigated. Experimental findings indicated slight negative correlation between inhibition efficiencies 1 M temperature but positive both concentration immersion time, respectively. weight loss measurement revealed that APMS achieved maximum rate 92.07% at 303 K. A fitting analysis demonstrated adheres to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. electrochemical results enhanced inhibitive performance APMS, efficiency increasing concentrations increased, ultimately reaching peak 94.47% 5 × 10–3 mol L–1. Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the activity 4-((4-((2-hydroxyethyl)(methyl)amino)benzylidene) amino)-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-3 H -pyrazol-3-one (HEMAP), a Schiff base synthesized and characterized for first time, authors’ knowledge, as novel inhibitor against corrosion mild steel (MS) in hydrochloric acid solution. Design/methodology/approach HEMAP by some spectroscopic methods including High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS), Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H NMR), Carbon-13 (C13) nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). Then, inhibition efficiency on MS solution investigated potentiodynamic polarization electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). To explain mechanism, surface charge, adsorption isotherms thermodynamic parameters were studied. Findings EIS tests displayed that highest calculated approximately 99.5% 5 × 10 −2 M 1 HCl found be compatible with Langmuir model isotherm. parameter results showed standard free energy more chemical than physical.
