This study investigates the introduction of ultrasonic impact treatment (UIT) during wire arc additive manufacturing process to refine microstructure and enhance properties 18Ni-300 maraging steel components. It was found that interlayer (I-UIT) synchronous (S-UIT) applied deposited metal can grains, alter grain growth orientation, reduce anisotropy. At top formed component, compared directly specimens, significant refinement appearance a 20μm nanocrystalline zone were observed in I-UIT-WAAM samples, while S-UIT-WAAM samples similarly exhibited effects impact, with deeper 230μm. In middle due subsequent remelting heating effects, effect weakened, resulting disappearance zone. Compared showed better assistance on molten pool, significantly reduced austenite content, average size, texture density. terms mechanical properties, for horizontal tensile strength 1401.3 ± 57.6 MPa, vertical 1327 9.5 MPa. strengths increased by 14.6% 11.3%, respectively.

A thin-walled structure was manufactured by wire + arc additive manufacturing using 18Ni 300 maraging steel, and the heat treatment process had been investigated. The microstructure of as-deposited sample martensite, ferrite nano-precipitated phases. Differently, more phases reverted austenite existed in direct aging (AT) sample. However, only lath martensite solution (SAT) AT samples performed a high strength with well plastic. primary strengthening mechanism for this great improvement tensile arose formation phases, which known as Orowan mechanism. plastic attributed to dual phase net basket sub-structures, were beneficial improve length crack propagation ability cooperative deformation.
