Abstract Lanthanum phosphate is a well‐known potential host for rare earth activators phosphor‐converted white LED application. Na + and Bi 3+ codoped Eu activated LaPO 4 nanophosphor successfully synthesized using citrate‐based hydrothermal method at ambient condition confirmed by XRD, EDS XPS analysis. The excitation spectra of the sample exhibit sharp f‐f characteristics peak 393 nm that found to be most dominant. comparative photoluminescence studies La 1‐x PO :xEu ( x = 0.10), 1‐x‐y , yNa 0.10, y 0.05), 1‐x‐y‐z zBi z 0.05) reveal progressive enhancement orange emission from as (Na ) ions are incorporated into matrix. dominance 5 D 0 ‐ 7 F 1 magnetic dipole transition contributing major part luminescence nanophosphors symmetric site occupancy was justified observed trend in Judd–Ofelt intensity parameters. CIE confirm improvement color purity 32.5% 90.6% due presence ions.
