Perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) membranes have found broad-ranging applications, owing to their high ionic conductivity and excellent chemical stability. However, with higher mechanical strength, lower area-specific resistance, reduced swelling, less gas crossover more affordable costs are desirable. Herein, we report on the fabrication of a fiberglass-cloth-reinforced PFSA membrane using simple solution cast method. The breaking strength reinforced has potential reach 81 MPa, which is about 6 times 2.5 that its non-reinforced counterpart commercial Nafion 117 (N117) membrane, respectively. area swelling ratio lowered merely 3%, only 1/12 N117, in water at 100 °C. Despite conduction being hindered by fiberglass cloth, shows an resistance 0.069 Ω·cm2, 58% than under 80 °C 100% humidity. This research provides promising technological pathway for development high-performance conductive membranes.
