Abstract This paper reports on the one‐step synthesis of molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanosheets with excellent adsorption properties for cationic dyes using a simple hydrothermal method. Compared 2H‐MoS prepared at 220 °C, 1T‐MoS 140 °C showed better dyes, highest abilities 605 and 795 mg g⁻¹ methylene blue rhodamine b, respectively. The process follows pseudo second‐order kinetic model, which indicates that is mainly controlled by chemisorption. At same time, Langmuir isotherm model more suitable describing process, suggesting monolayer homogeneous surface . Adsorption equilibrium times were observed 1–6 h in initial dye concentration range 100–400 mg/L. zeta‐potential XPS results suggest possesses negatively charged abundant oxygen‐containing functional groups, making it effective adsorbing dyes. performance 1T‐MoS₂ provides fresh perspectives development MoS₂‐based adsorbents.
