Phyllosilicates-based nanomaterials, particularly iron-rich vermiculite (VMT), have wide applications in biomedicine. However, the lack of effective methods to activate functional layer covered by external inert limits their future applications. Herein, we report a mineral phase reconfiguration strategy prepare novel nanozymes molten salt method. The peroxidase-like activity VMT nanozyme is 10 times that VMT, due electronic structure change iron VMT. Density-functional theory calculations confirmed upward shifted d-band center promoted adsorption H2O2 on active sites and significantly elongated O–O bond lengths. exhibited nearly 100% antibacterial toward Escherichia coli (E. coli) Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), much higher than 10%, S. 21%). This work provides new insights for rational design efficient bioactive phyllosilicates-based nanozyme.
