Photocatalysis offers a promising avenue for the efficient removal of nitrate compounds from water by harnessing solar energy and transforming them to ammonia. The constraints such as rapid charge carrier recombination comparatively low selectivity, however, hinder widespread application technology. In this study, an inexpensive bimetal sulphide (NiCo2S4, NCS) is anchored over phosphorus (P)-doped g-C3N4 (PCN) sheets. NCS-PCN binary composite synthesized ultrasonication-calcination method. effect materials compositions dose on photocatalytic nitrate-reduction activity determined. Notably, with 30% (w/w) NCS shows optimal nitrate- reduction, achieving 99% in 4 h, ammonia selectivity increased ~56 96%, compared PCN alone under identical conditions. photocatalyst also remarkable stability, experiencing marginal decrease less than 1% after 5 reaction-regeneration cycles. observed enhanced activity, supported radical scavenging tests X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis, provides evidence S-scheme-mediated transfer mechanism heterojunction. This study not only contributes valuable insights into light-harvesting but paves way sustainable processes large scale.
